MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — August 7, 2023 — Shopper concern over prices continues to change behavior with 93% of shoppers reporting they are worried about food cost inflation. Additionally, 46% of shoppers are buying less fresh meat and fresh produce to avoid food waste, according to new research presented at Chicken Marketing Summit.
The 2023 edition of the executive conference was hosted by WATT Global Media on July 31-August 2 at the Hotel Effie Sandestin in Miramar Beach, Florida.
Chicken Marketing Summit was well- attended by industry professionals representing a vast array of companies including Amick Farms, Bonchon Restaurants, Case Farms, Chick-fil-A, Fieldale Farms, George’s, Inspire Brands, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, Panda Restaurant Group, Pilgrim’s Pride, Raising Cane’s, Wayne-Sanderson Farms, Whataburger and many others.

The agenda included an exclusive presentation revealing the results of the 2023 Chicken Consumption Survey, which focused on current and anticipated US consumer behavior, specifically, consumption of chicken during an inflationary time. The survey results were presented by Erkin Peksoz, senior director, client insights, Circana, and Joyce Neth, vice president, director of audience engagement, WATT Global Media. The study was commissioned by the National Chicken Council (NCC), with funding provided by Elanco Animal Health, Evonik Animal Nutrition, NCC and WATT Global Media.
In addition, the Summit featured speakers and panelists who shared research and information centered around this year’s theme, “Appealing to cost-conscious consumers.” Experts discussed how macroeconomic trends impact chicken consumption, communicating about net zero and sustainability goals, 12 chicken consumption trends that will stick, what’s next for plant-based meat alternatives, and more.
Chicken Marketing Summit named Wayne-Sanderson Farms as the 2023 recipient of the Chicken Marketer of the Year award, which was developed to recognize organizations or companies who demonstrate excellence and innovation in promoting chicken.
The annual Chicken Marketing Summit is produced in collaboration with the National Chicken Council and with support from the National Protein and Food Distributors Association.
