Rockford, IL – September 14, 2015 – The 4th Annual International Poultry Forum China was held August 21-22, in Shanghai, with more than 240 professionals in attendance from China’s leading broiler producers, the China Broiler Alliance, and the industry’s poultry supply chain. The two-day educational and networking forum featured industry experts from around the world presenting on three themes: “Farm to Table–Safe Production Ensures Safe Food”; “Farm to Table–Consumer Drive Ensures Safe Food”; and, “Poultry Meat Products Study and Development”.

Event highlights included discussions, presentations and dialogue from senior executives with organizations including the Shanghai FDA, Walmart, New Hope Liuhe, Cargill China, Tyson China, WATT Global Media and more. Topics ranged from transparency, traceability, food safety, antibiotic-free and new government regulations, to e-commerce, the changing consumer and use of social media.

Presenter Christopher Langholz, president of Cargill Animal Protein China, discussed the importance of transparency and development of a food safety culture in Chinese broiler companies. “Consumers in China want global standards for food safety,” Langholz said. “Food safety is a shared responsibility. A few bad actors can destroy value for everyone. If one company has a food safety problem with chicken, we all suffer. The entire industry must be brought up to the same standard.”

The 5th annual International Poultry Forum China will take place in Shanghai, China, in August 2016.
