Cynthia Sides is director of industry engagement at the University of Arkansas. She was also recently the associate director for entrepreneurship at the university. Sides leads the Professional Awareness, Advancement, and Development program, an NSF-funded project that prepares STEM graduate students for their careers. She also teaches emerging technologies in industry, an interdisciplinary graduate course. Sides grew up Arkansas and graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and English. She earned her Ph.D. and completed a postdoc in the chemistry and biochemistry department at the University of Arkansas. Between her graduate school and postdoc years, Sides volunteered extensively by participating in and developing community outreach programs. She serves on the board for the Startup Junkie Foundation and works closely with other universities and K-12 schools across the state.
