Rockford, IL USA – October 9, 2017 – Representatives from WATT Global Media have announced that a video tour has been released providing the public with a glimpse at their rare poultry breed paintings in exhibition.

In August 2017, the largest single collection of rare poultry breed portraits worldwide (painted 1926 – 1950) were on display in the historic “Old Sandstone” art gallery, in Mt. Morris, IL, formerly the location of WATT office headquarters. See the video tour here: https://www.wattglobalmedia.com/100years/poultry-breed-paintings-video-tour/

The complete collection is comprised of 58 framed oil paintings of the most important poultry breeds. The paintings were created by three American artists, A.O. Schilling, L. Stahmer and F.L. Sewell, and were commissioned in the mid-1920s by J.W. Watt and Adon Yoder, founders of Watt Publishing Company (now WATT Global Media). The exhibition provided a unique opportunity to create this video which captures in full detail the richness and beauty of the birds in the paintings, as well as descriptions of each breed, the designated artist and the year it was painted. The paintings were originally reproduced in the pages of Poultry Tribune magazine.

ENCORE! Mt. Morris was honored to host this incredible collection of rare poultry breed portraits, stated Jeff Bold, Encore! Steering Chair. “Visitors to Old Sandstone Gallery were intrigued by the rare oil paintings, and the variety of breeds represented. It was a unique show, and a perfect fit.”

“When the concept of creating a virtual tour was presented to us, we felt the chance to digitally capture the entire collection in high resolution was a rare opportunity to further share this one-of-a-kind collection,” states Greg Watt, President/CEO. “We are still open to the idea of finding a permanent home to display the paintings, but this video provides people with an alternative way to experience and view the history of poultry industry breeds in vibrant color from anywhere.”
