Rockford, IL USA – March 12, 2019 – WATT Global Media recently released the results of its exclusive 2019 Poultry Nutrition & Feed Survey, which seeks to define the feeding and external market trends shaping poultry feed businesses over the past 12 months.

The editors of Feed Strategy, WATT PoultryUSA, Industria Avícola and Poultry International magazines surveyed 351 people who produce and use poultry feed worldwide. The survey was conducted in both English and Spanish.

When asked about industry growth, 51 percent of respondents said profitability will improve in 2019 up from 46 percent last year. Twenty-nine percent stated growth will remain static, and 20 percent said economic conditions will negatively impact profits.

Regarding challenges to the industry, respondents cited grain cost (79 percent) and quality (65 percent) as two primary concerns. This was followed by elimination of antibiotics due to regulation or consumer pressure (64 percent) and trade uncertainty (53 percent).

“Consumer preferences, a push toward sustainability and new regulations have increasingly influenced how poultry feed is formulated,” says Jackie Roembke, Editor of Feed Strategy magazine. “The survey offers a firsthand look at these trends and ways the industry can adapt to changes and challenges.”

Results from the 2019 Poultry Nutrition & Feed Survey can be accessed in the March digital edition of Feed Strategy magazine at www.feedstrategy-digital.com/201903/.
