Manhattan, Kansas – May 21, 2018 – “Treats, Toppers and Inclusions” has been announced as the theme for the interactive 2018 Petfood R&D Showcase, focusing on the fastest growing sales categories in pet food.

This unique hands-on workshop is scheduled for October 9-11, 2018 at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. Registration is now open with Super Early Bird savings available.

“Pet treats, foods with inclusions and indulgence items to place on top of the pet’s food, referred to as toppers, are three market categories with huge potential,” said Greg Aldrich, PhD, research associate professor and coordinator for the pet food program at Kansas State University. “These expanding segments are marketed as ways to supplement nutrition, enhance kibble-based products and to increase interaction between pet and human.”

Petfood R&D Showcase 2018 will explore the topic of treats and supplemental additive foods and forms for companion animals. This one-of-a-kind workshop will provide attendees with interactive, engaging and hands-on experiences focused on the science and technology behind treats, toppers and inclusions.

In addition to the hands-on demonstrations, Petfood R&D Showcase will feature numerous networking opportunities with leading suppliers, researchers and pet food industry professionals, plus cutting-edge scientific presentations that complement these new food formats. “This event will create significant opportunities to network, stimulate innovative ideas and learn new approaches to creating extra-nutritional food forms,” added Aldrich.
