Manhattan, Kansas – July 25, 2017 – Petfood Industry representatives have released the agenda details for this fall’s Petfood Research and Development Showcase, the latest addition to the Petfood Forum portfolio of events.

Petfood R&D Showcase will debut this fall on October 10-12, 2017, at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. This event is hosted by Petfood Industry in collaboration with Kansas State University’s Pet Food Science Program.

Over the course of the event attendees will gain insights on the latest market trend shifts in uses of whole and ancient grains in pet food. On October 11, 2017, the country’s leading faculty will present their latest research on the emerging science behind the use of grains in pet food. Scientific presentations will include using grain-based diets to maximize pet food safety, harnessing cereal crop diversity for improved health, learning an in-depth look at kill-step validation, plus a keynote presentation from Dr. Tim Hunt, a veterinarian, pet food company owner and former Iditarod musher.

Throughout the second full day of the event, attendees will rotate through a series of interactive labs, led by top pet food industry suppliers. During these activities and demonstrations, participants will have the ability to see the research learned the day prior come to life. Interactive lab stations include seeing how to produce a pet food diet using ancient grains, hands-on experience baking dog treats mixed with grains, functional enzymes, and novel flavors, processed using rotary molding equipment. There will also be a station demonstrating the diversity of functionalities that grains have in pet food diets.

Various networking events are also incorporated into the agenda, including three evening networking receptions and an optional dine-around event on Tuesday evening, which will take place at local Manhattan restaurants.
